How to Correctly Cut PVC Pipe
Some see this as a daunting task, but cutting PVC Pipe is actually very simple if you follow a few short steps and have the correct tools.
The correct tool for the job is a PVC Pipe cutter (see image below), but you could also use a wheeled tubing cutter or a saw. When using a saw, you are going to want to use a miter box to make sure that you make a clean straight cut.
The next step is to measure the length of Pipe you need and mark where you need to make the cut around the pipe. Be sure to double check your measurement to prevent any mistakes. Always cut the longest pieces you need first as this will help you save any waste.
After that, go ahead and cut the pipe. Using whatever tool you choose from the above list, make a clean, straight cut through the pipe. The straighter you make this cut, the tighter a seal you will make when you connect to your PVC Pipe Fitting.
After making the cut, sand down any burrs or debris using a fine grit sandpaper. You can also use a rasp or a razor blade to scrape away any loose materials.
